Hearing in the JCPC

The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) is very pleased to announce the launch of free virtual tours for schools in jurisdictions of the JCPC, that includes UK Crown dependencies, UK territories overseas and Commonwealth countries whose final court of appeal is the JCPC.

We are keen for students from all around the world to learn more about the work of the JCPC. The virtual tour is given by an experienced guide and covers the history and role of the JCPC and the UK Supreme Court, how Justices are appointed, and the history of the building in which cases are heard. There will also be a discussion of a JCPC case. A visual slide show will be shared and there will be opportunities to ask questions.

"The cases discussed in the session provoked lively debate amongst the students. It was very engaging and gave students an insight into the work of the Supreme Court". Mulberry School for Girls, Tower Hamlets, London.

Tours are aimed at students aged 15 to 16 years old. The contents are suitable for those studying law, politics and history, or any school group interested in the final court of appeal for their country. Tours are hosted using Microsoft Teams and last 45 minutes. Slots are available to book between 10am and 4pm UK time, between Monday to Thursday, from Wednesday 1 September 2021.

To book or for more information, teachers should contact: enquiries@supremecourt.uk

We look forward to seeing you in the new term and, who knows, inspire a whole new generation of lawyers!
