A valedictory ceremony marking the retirement of The Right Hon the Lord Mance, Deputy President of The Supreme Court, will take place on Wednesday 6 June at 9am in Court One.

The ceremony will include remarks by the President of The Supreme Court, The Right Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE, other members of the legal profession, and Lord Mance. It will last for approximately 30 minutes.

In keeping with all previous valedictory ceremonies that have taken place at the Supreme Court, Justices will not wear ceremonial robes.

The ceremony will be live streamed on the UKSC website, then available 'on demand' from our YouTube channel the following day. We kindly ask those wishing to attend to contact Jackie Sears in advance.

Lord Mance became a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 2005. He was from 1999 to 2005 a Lord Justice of Appeal and from 1993 to 1999 a Judge of the High Court, Queen's Bench Division, where he also sat in the Commercial Court. He became Deputy President of The Supreme Court in September 2017, following his original appointment as a Justice of The Supreme Court in October 2009.
